I've added "auto-detection" of current translations for the xfapplet package. To
add a new translation to the package, one needs only to add the .po file in the
po directory, no need to edit po/LINGUAS or configure.{ac,in}. Unfortunatelly
you'll still need to re-autogen it, my guess is that fixing this "automagically"
would be a bit harder.
