yes it's possible the only 'official' spanish translators are Jaime
Buffery and Edscott (for es_MX) and i don't think they'll mind if you
coordonate efforts. There is no real steps to follow just announce it if
nobody complains that's fine, i just need to note it somewhere to avoid
any conflicts in the future :)
