Thanks for reporting.

However I cannot reproduce the bug that easy, tried with 3200 folders.

For thumbnails afaik it is done the way you tell. First some generic
placeholder icon is shown, until the thumbnail got loaded.
But maybe it is different for remote file systems ... looks like you are using
a ftp mountpoint ?

Maybe you can help to clearify:
- There are only folders inside comics ? Or as well pictures / pdfs / videos ?
- They are located on a ftp mount, not locally ?
- What type causes the most lag for you ? Does the type matter ?
- Is the bug gone if you select to show thumbnails for local files only ?
- Is the bug gone if you select to show no thumbnails ?
- Can you reproduce the bug with nautilus ?
- Can you reproduce the bug on your local file-system ?
