Just to make that a bit more clear: For the local folders the GNOME icon 
is used. Happens in each kind of view and in bookmarks and in the 
titlebar of the Thunar window. For all other icons and even for the 
emblems of the local folders the icons from the chosen icon theme are 
used as normal.
