I guess it's all in the way you think about it. I think that file managers
will never truely replace the command line, but they make 90% of hte actions
easier. The other 10% are what most users are afraid of. I suppose 5-6 years
down the road, linux will become like windows in that it doesn't need the
command line any more, but for now, it's a neccesary item.

That being said, this would be something that would be an option that is
disabled by default. I know most of the people I know would use it, and
coupled with automatically refreshing the file window, (as discussed in
another thread) it would give people a better understanding of what the
command line does. It also helps power users, not needing to open a new
window every 2-3 seconds like I do now.
