It's already there (called "list view"), but not configurable in the 
prototype.

Yep, we already did a mockup for that. While I agree, that this is 
useful (if done right), it's not for a 1.0 release. Maybe in later releases.

Too much for a simple file manager, use GNOME Commander or Filer.

Too much for a simple file manager, use Konqueror.
