you are mixing several elements IMHO now. Try for instance with the 
location bar in the same spot as the gtk-path-buttons... a huge 
difference. Also in one of the mockups you have the toolbar enabled, and 
the window frame is different ;^).

One of the last things I personally do is use a location bar, unless I 
want to use some obscure sftp:// url or ditto. For local files, I would 
navigate in the panes. Yet again personal preferences... ;^)
