Well, there's a lack of "dedicated applications". All I need is a simple import dialog. The best one I've ever seen is in flPhoto - but I don't need a full photo album just to import photos.
So maybe a new, lightweight application based on flPhoto's import dialog would be an idea?
If needed, I can make some screenshots of this dialog window.
