It would be a shame if the project were to fork. Forks are often a waste of
resources, especially at such an early stage.

I don't know what you mean with "serious development attempts", but I'd 
like to
update the python-ui-demo with some simplifications, to see what the 
other guys
think.

( - no directory tree in the sidebar, only shortcuts. Directory tree in the
document pane instead, see OSX Finder.
- location bar as buttons only, make a location dialog, responsive to "/", see
gtk-file-selector)

About the greater scope of the project; Well, the project (almost?) lost it's
lead developer. No wonder it's staggering to find a new vision and/or has
trouble understanding the old one.

I hope you find the energy (und die Nerven) to return to the development; I'd
enjoy coding with you.
