If you have time to factorize the code, go for it, but I think the
important bit is to get the old features back into it. If you are
familiar with the code, show us the code/patch/... and it will be done
sooner than some mail exchanges. Of course just be in symbiosis with
the current dev to avoid duplication.
Lidiriel, there was no attack against you or the like, if you plan to
rewrite cleaner code, just let us know in your announcement. If you did
so in some README or ChangeLog file, point us to these. If people ask
you to move your ass, you do it when you get to it, but leave a note at
least. If you need help to release or else, you can ask us on the ml.
