I got a tip that it works if one sets xsetwmnormalhints() min_width,
max_width, min_height and max_height to 16.
Further tests showed that actually min_width or min_height must be > 1 in
order to show the tray icon. Is this intended?
Also again the question:
does Xfce support balloon messages
