As you may have noted, there are further updates to the script. I have tested the script by dash as /bin/sh variant. The script does not work by e.g. zsh, but could be modified to do so (especially, if a relatively new version of zsh is used). Which shells the script should work by? As for security point of view, dash seems to be the best:

How bizarre circumstances the script has to be prepared for?
If some xfconf variable is wanted to be used to select the wanted locker, I think it could point to an item in a pre-defined list that is not editable by a regular user. xflock4 would know how to deal with each one in the list.
