Looking again it might be a different error than I experienced 
previously (IIRC it had something about being expired), the current 
error message I see in Firefox 33 says:

> releases.xfce.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate is not trusted because it is self-signed. The certificate is only valid for tibeti.xfce.org (Error code: sec_error_unknown_issuer)
