Yes, that makes sense. Could add a forward from the old to the new location.

Since you mentioned the docs, it would be a nice treat if e.g. http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/ wouldn't be a 404 but auto-forward to http://docs.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/start
