This is a very late request, but I have always wanted to define custom
urls.  It could serve as shortcuts to many things.  A few examples:
bug#12345 (shortcut to your favourite bugzilla), google:query,
id:message-id (hyperlink to mid.gmane.org url or your local email index
store).

Personally I'm very interested in the id:message-id and bug#12345 type
of links.  Is this possible?  If this doesn't require a lot of work, it
would be great to have that.
