Easy! Simply clone the git repository as usual:
git clone git://git.xfce.org/xfce/xfce4-settings

"git branch -a" lists all available branches.

Create a local branch tracking the remote branch:
git checkout -b <local-branch-name> <remote-branch-name>

For updates, simply "git pull".
