To get involved with the development of Xfce I would suggest one of
the following two options:
- Either find your favourite bug [2], fix it and submit a patch on Bugzilla.
- Or volunteer to take maintainership of orphaned goodies (see recent
discussions on the subject [3][4]), mainly requiring to fix
outstanding bugs and commit patches already provided on Bugzilla.

In either case this will allow you to grow familiar with the Xfce code
