Username in config files

Hello,

I renamed a user on my system and found the home directory path 
hardcoded in config files:

> .config/orage/oragerc:Archive file=/home/USER/.local/share/orage/orage_archive.ics
> .config/orage/oragerc:Orage file=/home/USER/.local/share/orage/orage.ics
> .config/xfce4/xfconf/xfce-perchannel-xml/xfce4-panel.xml:      <property name="base-directory" type="string" value="/home/USER"/>

Best practice was to write "~/" there, wasnt it?

PS: this is on a stock xubuntu 12.04
