Desktop icon grid

Hello, I was wanting to make the desktop icons move around "freely" and
not snap to a grid. I'm sending this to make sure its not already
been/being implemented (and to get some info if its not being
implemented)

Around line 1700 in xfdesktop-file-icon-manager.c, I can see a few
functions dealing with the desktop icons. It looks like things are
being kept in a "row" "col" type format. 

The only way I can think of to fix this is to "increase" the precision
of rows and cols. 

Am I on the right track?, if so, some pointers would be nice. (I come
from C++/Python)
