I could not find any proof of that : Lubuntu and Xubuntu use about the
same amount of RAM at startup (I know Xubuntu is not so lightweight, but
still), once the user has logged in and the HDD has stopped reading.

And a core xfce install on ArchLinux was a little lighter on RAM usage
according to HTOP than a core lxde install ("core" Xfce + ArchLinux was
only using 50 MB on an old x86 PC with 384 MB of RAM without swaping,
and "core" lxde + ArchLinux was using about 10 MB more).

Finally, I precisely use Xfce mainly because it is lightweight, and
remains to be so, despite what people believe. ;-)

However, I prefer one app from lxde, and it is gpicview, rathen than
ristretto. Mainly because I can use the arrow keys to see the
next/previous image, but that's off-topic.
