Ok, sorry for flooding. Seems that in fact, nor 0.1.0 nor git support
1.1 spec, but at least git says it:

0.1.0:

corsac at hidalgo: dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Notifications /org/freedesktop/Notifications org.freedesktop.Notifications.GetServerInformation
method return sender=:1.223 -> dest=:1.222 reply_serial=2
   string "Xfce Notify Daemon"
   string "Xfce"
   string "0.1.0"

git:

corsac at hidalgo: dbus-send --print-reply --dest=org.freedesktop.Notifications /org/freedesktop/Notifications org.freedesktop.Notifications.GetServerInformation
method return sender=:1.224 -> dest=:1.225 reply_serial=2
   string "Xfce Notify Daemon"
   string "Xfce"
   string "0.1.0git-6bf731b"
   string "0.9"

which is why xfce4-notifyd fails with libnotify1 0.5.

0.9 specs doesn't have this signature for GetServerInformation
(http://www.galago-project.org/specs/notification/0.9/x408.html#command-get-server-information) so I guess xfce4-notifyd is more like 1.0 in fact, but it's not exactly clear. I can't find spec 1.0 nor 1.1 so I don't exactly know what to do here.

Cheers,
