Xfce Mailwatch Plugin 1.1.0 dies randomly....

Hi,
My system is intel-based Fedora 14 (64bits) with Xfce 4.6.2.
I use the Mailwatch Plugin (most recent version 1.1.0, released on 14 September
2008).
It is docked in the panel and it checks my mail via the pop3 protocol.
At unpredictable times the Mailwatch Plugin starts claiming 100 % of the CPU,
which gradually slows down the PC until the plugin eventually dies. This leaves
traces in /var/spool/abrt/ and in /var/log/messages (see below).
In order to get the plugin back in the panel, it needs to be newly configured!
This bug is not new. See for example:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/xfce4-mailwatch-plugin/+bug/531016/+activity
http://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5822
If this plugin is not maintained properly anymore, it is maybe a good idea to
drop it from a next XFCE release, or replace it with something better?
Regards,
Rob.
