I'm not sure we want the process to be automated at every stage. IMHO
it's enough if Buildbot checks if the different branches compile fine
on selected architectures/distributions. There's some manual work to do
before releasing anyway (like updating ChangeLog, NEWS and bumping
versions on configure.ac/in.in) and checking the tarball once again as a
human being is a good idea, I think.
