Mousepad version

sorry for posting without any knowledge to offer on this subject,
but i have a relative question about mousepad.

i am using mousepad from git, http://git.xfce.org cause i've found
difficulties to install mousepad from svn. The description on this
project is "Experimental Mousepad code" but this version of mousepad
works just fine on my desktops/laptops etc.

Is this (git mousepad) a different project (fork) from svn trunk?
Or simple the author changed the vcs to git?

Perhaps (if the necessaries test are made) you could use this version on 4.6
