To sum up the rest of this thread: this is going to be GTK+ 2.14 and
GLib 2.18. I've updated the schedule (and status) page with the list of
required dependencies I've extracted from the configure scripts:

After thinking about Thunar and volume monitoring a little bit more I
think I'd opt for keeping HAL for 4.8 rather than switching to
DeviceKit-disks. That way we can hopefully re-use the
ThunarVfsVolumeManager code for a GIO volume monitor extension shipped
with Thunar.

Please have a look at the dependency list on this page. Is there
anything I've missed that we absolutely require?
