mailwatch-plugin: can check my local mailbox?

Hi,

I have xfce4-mailwatch-plugin-1.0.1-6.fc7 installed on Fedora 7.

I don't understand how to configure it so that it detects new email on
my local machine in $MAIL (= /var/spool/mail/username). Kind of similar
to what xbiff would do.

I tried the two 'spool options':
  Local Maildir Spool
  Local Mbox spool

and provided "/var/spool/mail" and "username", but that
does not seem to work.

Am I misunderstanding the configuration, or is this impossible
for mailwatch?
