Xfce itself doesn't need any databases except some file-based ones 
like TDB which is used in Thunar and will also be used in libxfce4menu.
The only more feature-rich file-based database engine coming to my mind
is SQLite which might be interesting for more complex situations. 

But after all we don't need C++ wrappers for database engines. We also
don't need database layers in the Xfce core, so I don't really see the
point in this.
