crashes with matlab

Hi folks,
I've been using Xfce for more than a year (or is it 2+ years -- have
lost track!) and I'm very happy with it. I'd like to earnestly thank
all of the Xfce developers for sharing this very cool and useful tool!
So I've encountered a serious [for me, anyway! :-)] problem over the
last ~6 months. I've been using the Xfce RPMs provided as part of
Fedora Extras for both FC5 and now FC6. When running MatLAB, I
frequently get crashes that kill my entire X server/session. When
running Xfce, these crashes happen every few times that plots are
created, re-sized, or closed. I should note that MatLAB renders each
plot within a separate window.
I have never had these crashes with Gnome. So, in order to use MatLAB,
I have either temporarily switched over to a Gnome session or have run
MatLAB on another system or within a realvnc session on the same system.
I understand that MatLAB is a commercial product and it would be
ridiculous (outrageously expensive) for Xfce developers to buy and
test with it. So, is there any way that I can try to figure out what
might be causing these crashes?
Can someone please suggest a means to perhaps find the root cause(s) so
that I can submit detailed bugs to the MatLAB folks and/or elsewhere?
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated !!!
Ed
