This feature is already available. Right click on directory gives you 
options to create  .tar.gz, .tar.bz2 and .iso files.

Why .iso files? If you right click a .iso file you get the menu option to 
burn a cdrom with the contents of the .iso file. There are two choices. 
One with sudo which is preferred to avoid problems.
