Hi,
I've started some weeks ago to study Gnome applets and the Bonobo system
willing to write a plugin for the Xfce panel capable of displaying Gnome
applets. Now I'd like to share the first draft of the plugin ;)
It's still missing a lot of stuff, but it works fine - at least for me -
and proves it can be done. I've put a screenshot of my Xfce panel here:
http://www.das.ufsc.br/~adrianob/xfce4-panel-with-xfapplet.png
All items between the red bars are actually Gnome applets (they are
GDict, Sticky Notes, Mount Volume, GEyes and Netstatus) being displayed
through the Xfce panel plugin, namely XfApplet.
For those who want to try by themselves, I've put a tarball here:
http://www.das.ufsc.br/~adrianob/xfapplet.tar.bz2
As I said before, it still misses a lot of functionallity. On the
tarball you'll find one source file, a (very) simple Makefile and a
simple .desktop file. Please remember to change the last line in the
.desktop file to the correct path.
Usage of the plugin is quite simple: in the configuration dialog you'll
be able to choose an applet to display.
I hope I can work more on it the next weeks. Any feedback is
appreciated.
Regards,
Adriano
