Possible Bug - A bit more info: .xsession-errors contents

I think I have seen that before and I don't know what it means or where 
it comes from :(

However, there were other problems with saving changes in the panel. 
Those should be fixed in this version: 
http://www.us.xfce.org/archive/test/xfce4-panel-4.2.3.1.tar.gz .

Could you try that? Maybe it will fix your problems as well.
