Meh, don't believe everything you read on slashdot, inotify is crap.
It's only available in some Linux versions. I'm not in favour of writing
a different file monitor backend for each and every operating system and
x different versions of Linux. FAM provides a consistent, operating
system independent API, and Gamin (which implements the FAM API) offers
support for kqueue/inotify on various operating systems. So, just
install Gamin and use the "big inotify".
