desktop menu bug

As some of you might know, there is a sporadic bug in the desktop menu
where the item you select is occasionally not launched. while in 4.2
it only happened occasionally, in the current svn, you need to
sometimes click 2-3 times before the app will open. also the quit
selection takes up to 10 tries to activate.

another small bug: the right click on the window titlebar, there is no
option to remove icons from that menu.
