I guess PYTHONPATH needs to be ajusted correctly just as PKG_CONFIG_PATH when
the build process depends on pkg-config. Of course, differently from
PKG_CONFIG_PATH, will have to set PYTHONPATH permanently, otherwise configure
will pass but it may not build nor even run.
