hibernate/suspend + reboot/halt

hi,
today i gave xubuntu a try on an old pc of mine.
and i must say its amazing how quick you get a perfectly working
operation system .. that was really new to me, because i am a gentoo'ler
:-) but xubuntu is really good work!

after pressing the logout button the first time i realized that all the
stuff i was doing related with hibernate/suspend was already there :-) i
know that somebody did mention than .. but i didn't realize that, sorry!

now, my question is how we can merge both things to get the best
solution for xubuntu and for "normal" xfce users?
maybe a power management library which handles all the suspend and
shutdown stuff?!
