Probably bug in xfdesktop

Maybe it crashes on the background, you don't notice it (since the
wallpaper on the root window stays), and when you logout your session is
saved without xfdesktop.
The crash may be linked to xfdesktop memory leak ([1]) or other things.
Is your sessions lasting a lot of time ?
