exo-open: URIs beginning with "www." not opened in the browser

Hey Benny,
this is what I get when trying to run "exo-open www.xfce.org" (or any
other domain without the "http://" protocol prefix:
jannis at nebelsee:~$ exo-open www.sten-net.de
jannis at nebelsee:~$ Error: Failed to send command: 500 command not
parseable
Are such URIs not recognized as web URLs out of principle (because a
command or directory "www.xfce.org" could possibly exist somewhere) or
is this a bug?
BTW, I'm using the same mechanism for detecting URLs as Terminal does.
Regards,
Jannis
