You mean more like buttons?  I don't think I'd really like how that looks.

Hmm.  IIRC, CDE used double-click for activation.  I think keeping the
"normal" model of double-clicking icons for activation is probably best.
 A tooltip with the full name is a good idea though.  I just need to
figure out how to do that properly, since GtkTooltips won't be useful here.
