defunct external plugins

Hi,

I was trying to write my own external plugin for Xfce SVN when I
realized that whenever I remove an external plugin from the panel I
get a zombie process. For example, after adding and removing the Xfce
Menu, I get the following:

$ ps ax | grep xfce4-menu
 4438 pts/0    Z      0:00 [xfce4-menu-plug] <defunct>

Is this behavior normal/expected or is it a problem with my system setup?

I'm using xfce4-panel rev. 19066 and linux 2.4.27.
