Which tools are visible in xfce4-appfinder and desktop menu ?

hi,

Is there any correlation between xfce4-appfinder and desktop menu ?
They show almost the same products, but not quite. Is that intentional 
or do those two applications actually have anything in common ?
Their functionality seems to be rather close to each other ? What is the 
idea behind them ? Do we need both ?

Example:
Both tools have games section but appfinder only showed Solitaire (or 
Aisleriot) from  /usr/share/applications/gnome-sol.desktop
 but removing line:
OnlyShowIn=GNOME;
made it visible in desktop menu, too.

So are those supposed to use same selections or are they working as 
planned ?
