to be honest it looks more like an xfwm4 problem than X... if I resize 
the MPlayer window it sometimes works fine... turning off Composite also 
completely removes the problem!

When I kill xfwm4 with Composite on then the problem goes away 
completely... Can't get any more detailed then that! (note I'm using 4.1.90)

sofar
