I just came across a Solaris box and found the cause for the problem. Its
fixed in CVS HEAD now. FYI on Solaris you cannot free() memory that you
previously handed to putenv(), really weird, cause the man page tells me that
putenv() on solaris manages the environment using malloc() itself.
Nevertheless it works now.
