ati big desktop and xfce

ok, ati's drivers do not support xinerama, and big desktop mode works(i have 1600x1200 on one monitor, 1024x768 on the other), but when I maximize an app, it takes up both screens, and then some.  also, windows often appear off of both screens.

Can I get xfce to somehow force maximized apps to only take up current monitor, and windows not to appear off screen?
