CVS compilation tool

Hi everyone,

How are people here building the CVS codebase?  Shell scripts, 
makefiles, maybe going through every single directory by hand and doing 
the configure && make && make install dance?

Seeing how KDE has konstruct to make compiling much less painful, I was 
wondering if something similar might be beneficial for XFCE too.  As it 
stands I'm using a rather hack-ish barebones Makefile, but I'm 
considering possibly putting together something a bit more cohesive. 
Would there be any interest in a tool like that, or do people already 
have their own established ways of accomplishing the task?
