Panel and Taskbar settings

Couple of quick questions:

1. Can I permenently hide the task bar? A checkbox on the setup menu
"Show/Hide Task bar" would be nice.

2. Can I reduce the size of the XFCE panel further. I would liek to
make it look like the task bar - a think line. BTW: Is the XFCE Panel
itself themable? Can I change the way the panel looks (not just the
icons)?
