I'll second Botsie. Things must be really separate.

Oh! And yes, xfdiff4 tries to save its settings i, $HOME/.xfce/ instead
of $HOME/.xfce4/ so that causes an error ("can't save xfdiff4rc") if
xfce3 wasn't installed before.
