xffm and RedHat9

Xffm is the only module of sorts of the entire xfce4 project that requires
me to pass along the argument LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.5 before running it.
There are several applications that require me to do this since upgrading
to RH9, but I was wondering if there was a way of making it so that I
didn't with xffm? I wish I didn't at all, and hoped that that would go
away when I upgraded the glibc to the ones on RedHat errata, but no luck.
It's got something to do with pthreads. I'm not super knowledgeable about
the problem, but it must be widespread enough for someone to know.
Thanks,
Jonathan
