Best way to update CVS install?

Hello everyone,

I downloaded and install the CVS of XFce4 a few weeks ago.  I have been thinking it is about time I took a look at the wonderful work that has been done since then.  I had a question though, what I the best way to update?

I don't mind downloading a completely fresh CVS listing.  So, do I just need to do a "make uninstall" in the old dir and then a "make install" in the new one?  Just making sure I don't really goof something up here.
