japanese translation fail

I use Slackware-8.1 and update glibc-2.3.2 and gcc-3.2.2 from sources.

when I've created "ja.po",I've used "GNU libiconv-1.8" which
linked "GNU gettext-0.11.5".
I haven't changed it since then.

Hopefully, it could help your situation(s).
