I should have said 'xautolock' here. When I manually lock the display, I
use xlock, but I have xautolock for those times I walk away from the
display absentmindedly... I've got a 2 1/2 year old daughter, and that
can ruin a whole days work otherwise! ;-)

But xfce doesn't require it. xflock will call xscreensaver *if* it is
present on the system, xlock otherwise. I'd actually like to see this
configurable (maybe in the panel settings?) since there are a number of
ways to lock the screen in X -- and not everyone uses XSS. (I'm running
on an old 366MHz machine with 256MB RAM; XSS can sometimes double my
memory and CPU usage!)
